01Can my stucco be repaired, or does it need to be replaced?

Most stucco can be repaired. Cracks, failed patches and wet areas are cut back to sound material, the paper and flashing behind them are fixed, and the coats are rebuilt and blended into the existing texture. When much of a wall is delaminated or wet behind, replacing that elevation is often smarter than patching it piece by piece. We’ll tell you plainly which side of that line your wall is on. Stucco repair & restoration.

02What’s the difference between EIFS and stucco?

Traditional stucco is a hard, cement-based coat over lath. EIFS is a layered system: an air and water barrier, adhesive, rigid insulation board, a mesh-reinforced base coat and a textured finish. EIFS adds continuous insulation and shapes easily into bands, cornices and trim, and drainage EIFS gives incidental water a path out. From the street the two can look much the same. More on EIFS installation and stucco repair.

03Which EIFS systems do you install?

Complete systems from Sto (StoTherm® ci) and Master Wall (Rollershield®): the barrier, adhesive, board, mesh, base and finish all from the same manufacturer, installed to their published details. You can take both apart layer by layer in the wall section on this page. More on EIFS.

04Can you paint stucco and EIFS?

Yes. Most stucco takes a breathable 100% acrylic masonry coating. Elastomeric coatings bridge hairline cracks and suit sound, dry walls, but they can trap moisture in a wall that’s taking on water. EIFS gets a coating made for EIFS finishes. Either way, cracks and leaks are fixed before anything is coated. Painting & coatings.

05How fast will I get my estimate?

Usually within 48 hours when you send drawings: plans or elevations with dimensions. We measure every wall, opening and trim run off the sheets and send you a written price. Big plan sets and weekends can take a little longer. No drawings? We visit, measure and send your price after the visit. The estimate is free either way. Get a free estimate.

06What counts as drawings?

Any of these: an architect’s or designer’s plan set (PDF), a permit set or construction drawings, elevations of each side with dimensions, or clear phone photos of paper plans with the scale or dimensions readable. We price from those dimensions, so they need to be on the sheets. What to send.

07Where do you work?

All of Massachusetts and all of New Hampshire, out of our office at 97 Central St in Waltham. We work for homeowners, builders, general contractors and property managers in both states. See our Massachusetts and New Hampshire service areas.

08Do you work on commercial and multifamily buildings?

Yes. Along with houses, we work on storefronts, commercial entries and mid-rise multifamily buildings, for owners, builders and property managers. Send the drawings and we’ll price the walls, the trim and the details. See recent work.

09Do you install siding too?

Yes. James Hardie® fiber cement, vinyl and other siding, in lap, shingle and board-and-batten profiles. Fiber cement is heavy, stable and takes paint well. Vinyl is lighter, usually costs less up front, and doesn’t need painting. Compare Hardie fiber cement siding and vinyl siding, or start at siding.

10Can I see my house before you start?

Yes. We can build a 3D rendering of your exterior from your drawings, so you can compare siding, colors and trim before any work starts. Ask for one when you send your drawings, or try a few looks on the demo house on this page first. How 3D renderings work.
